I feel like I have been successful this semester with transferring my knowledge from Python into R and making connections between the two languages, but also realizing that there are a lot of differences. This has been challenging at times because I had to relearn certain things that I thought I knew how to do. I would like to explore more about datasets and how I can use R in more everyday scenarios. On the flip side, I am just interested in exploring more of the complexity of R and the higher-level manipulation that it is capable of. I am excited to do this through our final projects. I hope that I can incorporate research and learning I have done in other classes, into a detailed and focused project that I am genuinely curious about. I would particularly love to explore more about life in the mills and trauma that still exists today from that period. For one of my other classes, we were able to tour the mills with the architect who currently owns them and is renovating the spaces into office space, etc., which really opened my eyes to how much the mills still affect Lewiston as a community today. I have found the readings and discussions about Benjamin Bates and the industry to be some of the most important I have read. Specifically, the lecture about racial capitalism by Robin Kelley has been something I found myself making a lot of connections to in other readings etc..
